RECIPE: White Chocolate Doughnuts

I must be getting old -- and more importantly, I must finally be embracing it. :) The 22-yr-old soul in my late 20's mind+body has graduated a bit over the past few months. HAHA.

I purchased a doughnut baking pan and became absolutely enamored with it; I immediately started to think of different recipes for my first batch once I got home and here we are! I love how these are baked, not fried, and somewhat healthier. *insert awkward smiling emoji here* Essentially, they're like doughnut-shaped cakes, so any cake recipe will do! (Boxed cake mixes work too!)

White Chocolate Doughnuts Recipe

Serving Size: 10 doughnuts | Time: 30 minutes, with prep


For the doughnut batter:

・ 1 1/2 cup flour

・ 1 tbsp baking powder

・ 1 tsp salt

・ 1/2 cup white sugar

・ 1/2 cup milk

・ 2 eggs

・ 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the white chocolate glaze:

・ 1 bag of white chocolate chips

・ 3 tbsp milk

・ Food coloring of choice

・ Decorations such as sugar sprinkles, nonpareils, etc.


1. Warm oven to 325 degrees. Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl. Add in milk, vanilla extract, and two eggs. Whisk together and set aside.

2. Create a double boiler by boiling water in a saucepan and placing a heat proof bowl on top of it. Add in white chocolate chips, stirring as it melts. Add milk accordingly, to create a consistency of a glaze. -OR- melt white chocolate chips & milk in the microwave, at 15 second intervals, until glaze is done.

3. Pour batter into each compartment of the pan, 2/3 of the way up. Bake the doughnuts for 9-12 minutes. Check to see they're done by inserting a toothpick in the doughnuts. If the toothpick comes out clean, with no batter on it, then they're finished.

4. Separate the white chocolate glaze into 3+ bowls. For an ombre effect, start with one bowl with just white chocolate, leaving it as is. Add 4 drops of food coloring (for my case, I did 2 red + 2 blue) in the next bowl. Add 6 drops (3 red + 3 blue) in the next one. Should you want more colors, continue adding more food coloring gradually into the next bowls.

5. Make sure doughnuts are cool (5-10 minutes, left in pan) before dipping them in white chocolate glaze. Once they're dipped, leave them to set before either dipping again, or adding decorations.

6. Using ziploc bags filled with each color, and a small corner of the bag cut out, add more contraction/dimension/texture to doughnuts by piping glaze back+forth. Finish off with sugar sprinkles and nonpareils.
